‘Uptown Funk’ and ‘Cheerleader’ revealed as the UK’s biggest singles of 2015
The Official Charts Company has today (4th January) revealed the Top 40 Biggest Songs of 2015 with the two biggest selling singles of 2015 both being claimed by Sony Music UK artists.
Columbia’s Mark Ronson has taken the top spot for his collaboration with Bruno Mars on ‘Uptown Funk’. Meanwhile Syco’s OMI achieved the second biggest selling single, with his hit record ‘Cheerleader’ which went double platinum in December.
This is the second consecutive year that Sony UK has held the number one spot in the singles chart, with Pharrell’s ‘Happy’ holding pole position in 2014.
‘Uptown Funk’ is now the fifth biggest-selling single of all time in the UK, with sales of more than 2.2.million copies in the UK alone and 11 million globally.
This achievement has already been recognised by the Grammys – with Mark Ronson’s rightly deserved nominations.
Vevo has also announced that ‘Uptown Funk’ was the most watched video of 2015 on the platform, clocking in at over 1 billion views.
