Little Mix storm to number 1 on the UK album chart
Little Mix this evening went straight to the top of the UK Official Album Chart with their fourth album Glory Days. This has secured the four-piece the quickest-selling UK girl group album since The Spice Girls.
Glory Days, released by Syco Music, has given the band their first UK number 1 album following three previous top five albums.
It has become Little Mix’s fastest-selling album ever – and is also the second quickest-selling album of the year, after the late David Bowie’s final album Blackstar in January. It has also given the group their highest ever seven-day album sales.
Little Mix – who first rose to fame when they won The X Factor UK in 2011 – said, “it has always been our ultimate dream to have a number 1 album and we can’t believe we’ve finally done it. Thank you to everyone that has made this possible and to all the fans that bought it this week. These really are our glory days!”
The album follows the band’s latest single Shout Out to my Ex in going straight to the top of the charts. The track Shout Out to my Ex stayed at the top for three weeks, and is one of the group’s most successful singles to date.
