Elvis Presley hits triple platinum as sales continue to soar
‘If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’ has gone triple platinum in just 10 weeks, it has been confirmed today (8th January) on what would be his 81st birthday.
The King of Rock n’ Roll has once again confirmed his legendary status, with sales of the album surging through the 900,000 milestone in the UK – and, in so doing, hitting triple platinum status. It now has total sales of 920, 417.
One of the fastest selling albums of 2015, and the second biggest selling new album behind Adele, Elvis remains at number two in the official album charts this week. Indeed, the record has not spent a week outside the top three since it was released on October 30th.
It is yet another landmark in the King’s legendary career.
Elvis holds the longest number one career in UK chart history, spanning 59 years and is the only solo recording artist to have a No. 1 album in five different decades. He is also the most successful solo male UK chart star with 12 No1 albums to date.
He is also the biggest selling solo artist of all time, with sales of, astonishingly, more than one billion worldwide.
