Sony Music UK nominated at Business Charity Awards 2025 for Social Justice Fund Projects

The Third Sector Business Charity Awards have announced that Sony Music UK’s Social Justice Fund (SJF) partners Young Urban Arts Foundation (YUAF) and Small Green Shoots have been shortlisted for awards in the Community Impact and Project of the Year categories.

YUAF is a charity that works to create a world where marginalised young people are seen, heard and celebrated, regardless of background or circumstances. The UK SJF has awarded grants to YUAF and has worked with them since 2019 on projects including Educate to Create – a programme to inspire and build the skills of disadvantaged London teenagers during the summer holidays by driving a special bus kitted out as a mobile studio into London estates, to deliver music workshops and teach multimedia skills. London has a particularly high concentration of under-served communities on estates, who are typically hard to reach through conventional measures, so YUAF works with local housing association partners to take the bus to the teenagers.

Small Green Shoots is dedicated to increasing career opportunities for underrepresented Young Adults. Since 2021, the UK SJF has funded three cohorts of the charity’s Young Shoots programme which offers participants not in education or work, access to training and career development in the music industry. In addition to funding the programme, in collaboration with Sony Music’s in-house creative and strategy hub, 4th Floor Creative, the partnership has allowed for the ‘Shoots’ to undertake placements as part of the 4thFloor Academy, offering them hands-on experience working at a record label.

The Business Charity Awards recognise the achievements of partnerships between outstanding corporate and not-for-profit organisations and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 8 May. Full shortlist is here.
