Sony artists nominated for MTV VMAs 2016
The nominations for the MTV Video Music Awards were announced last night, with a whole host of Sony Music artists nominated across the seventeen categories.
Beyoncé leads the way with a total of eleven nominations, including the coveted VMA Video of the Year award, plus Best Female Video and Best Long Form Video for her visual album Lemonade.
The late David Bowie’s ‘Black Star’ video has been nominated for Best Direction, whilst his video for ‘Lazarus’ has been nominated for Best Art Direction, Best Editing and Best Cinematography.
Up-and-coming Black Butter artist Zara Larsson and RCA’s Bryson Tiller have both been nominated for Best New Artist. Tiller’s video for ‘Don’t’ is also nominated for Best Hip Hop Video.
99 Souls’ ‘The Girl Is Mine’ received a nomination in the Best Electronic Video category alongside The Chainsmokers‘ ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ ft. Daya and Calvin Harris‘ ‘How Deep Is Your Love’. Calvin Harris also received two further nominations for his huge collaborative hit with Rihanna, ‘This Is What You Came For’, in the Best Male Video and Best Collaboration categories.
‘Work From Home’ by Fifth Harmony and Ty Dolla $ign has been nominated for Best Collaboration whilst Sia’s ‘Cheap Thrills’ video is up for Best Female Video and ZAYN‘s debut video for hit single ‘Pillowtalk’ is up for Best Visual Effects.
The MTV VMAs will take place on Sunday 29th August at New York’s Madison Square Gardens.
